1) Aetna
Aetna was founded in 1853, so they’ve been in the market for a while. While we offer plans with many top companies, Aetna might be your best option.

S&P Ratings: A+
Aetna Medigap plans have a 12-month rate lock, which means you’ll have the same rate — with no increases — during the first year. They offer a spouse discount to people who have an active Medigap policy with the same Aetna company. Aetna also provides household discounts; the amount differs by state.

2) Cigna
Cigna has a 200+ year journey in the insurance industry. It began in 1792 under the name Insurance Company of North America. Now, Cigna designs Medigap policies with a focus on pre-existing conditions. While many carriers have strict eligibility requirements for their policies, Cigna will cover beneficiaries with severe issues that most companies would turn down.

Your plan options include A, F, High Deductible F, G, and N. Cigna offers competitive rates and a 7% household discount when both spouses enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan. The amounts differ by state.

3) Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana
Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) insures about one in every three Americans, and they have more than 100 million members nationwide. People may refer to the company as Anthem. For Medigap plans, the household discount is 5% in most states.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana was founded in 1934 in New Orleans. Policyholders mutually own this private, nonprofit company. The company’s Medicare Supplement products include:
BlueChoice 65 is a series of Medigap plans that lets you choose almost any doctor or hospital. You get direct access to specialists, a new hospice care benefit, and coverage for your skilled nursing coinsurance.
BlueChoice 65 Select is a series of Medicare Select plans that offer lower monthly premiums using a specific hospital network for inpatient services. At the hospitals, you don’t have to worry about the Part A deductible and coinsurance. You can still pick almost any doctor.
