Fussell Group agents serve Shreveport and communities across North Louisiana, including these parishes:
Why location matters
Why your Shreveport address matters
Medicare Advantage plans are offered in set service areas, usually made up of whole parishes, and you must live in a plan’s service area to join it. A Shreveport-area address could be in Caddo, Bossier or another nearby parish, so the plans you can choose from depend on the parish where you live. Our North Louisiana Medicare agents will help you review the plans available at your full home address, and their benefits and costs.
What if my doctors are elsewhere in North Louisiana?
No problem. You might live in one parish and see doctors or use hospitals in another. Where you live decides which Medicare Advantage plans you can join, and each plan’s network decides which doctors and hospitals it covers. Your agent can help you check each provider against the plans available at your address.

Common questions
Medicare questions from Shreveport residents
Does Fussell Group have an office in Shreveport?
Yes. Fussell Group has an office in Shreveport. Our other offices are in Covington, our home office, and in West Monroe. You can work with a North Louisiana Medicare agent at home, virtually, by phone or somewhere local where you’re comfortable.
Do you have Medicare agents serving Shreveport and nearby areas?
Yes. Fussell Group agents serve Shreveport and communities across North Louisiana, including Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Red River and Claiborne parishes, and parishes further east such as Lincoln, Ouachita and Union. Your plan options will depend on your own parish and eligibility. See how Fussell Group serves communities across the state on our Louisiana Medicare page.
Can an agent meet me at my home in Shreveport?
Yes. In-home meetings are one of the ways we work with clients in Shreveport and across North Louisiana. You can also meet virtually, by phone or somewhere else you’re comfortable. Use the form below to set up a time.
Does my parish affect which Medicare Advantage plans I can join?
Yes. Medicare Advantage plans are usually offered by parish, and you must live in a plan’s service area to join it. Because the Shreveport area spans more than one parish, your agent will look at the options available at your full home address. Benefits and costs can also differ from one parish to the next.
What if my doctors and hospitals are in different parishes?
Where you live decides which Medicare Advantage plans you can join. Each plan’s network decides which doctors and hospitals it covers. Bring a list of your doctors, specialists and hospitals, including any outside your own parish, and your agent can help you check each one against the plans available at your address.
How much does it cost to work with a Fussell Group agent?
Nothing. There’s no cost to you to work with a Fussell Group agent, and there’s no obligation to enroll.
Can I keep my doctors?
It depends on the coverage you choose. With Original Medicare, you can generally use any doctor or hospital that takes Medicare, anywhere in the U.S. With a Medicare Advantage plan, you may need to use doctors and hospitals in the plan’s network for non-emergency care. Networks can change: a plan can add or remove providers, and a doctor can leave a plan’s network. Your agent can help you check your doctors against the plans available to you.
Will my prescriptions be covered?
It depends on the plan. Drug coverage and costs can change from one year to the next. Bring a list of every prescription you take, with doses, so your agent can help you compare how each option covers them.
What are the main Medicare enrollment periods?
There are three main Medicare enrollment periods to know:
Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): Generally a seven-month window around when you first become eligible for Medicare: three months before your 65th birthday month, your birthday month and three months after.
Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): October 15 through December 7 each year. This is the yearly opportunity for people with Medicare to review and change health and drug coverage for the coming year. Changes generally take effect January 1.
Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (OEP): January 1 through March 31 each year. This is for people already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan and allows one change, such as switching Medicare Advantage plans or returning to Original Medicare and, if applicable, joining a standalone Part D plan.
Your Fussell Group agent can help you understand which enrollment period applies to your situation.
Do I need to review my plan every year?
It’s a good idea. Your Medicare costs, benefits and providers can change each year, so a yearly review helps you check that your coverage still fits your doctors, prescriptions and budget.
Is Fussell Group part of Medicare or the government?
No. Fussell Group Insurance Advisors is an insurance agency and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the government or the federal Medicare program.
Is there free, unbiased Medicare help from the state?
Yes. For free, unbiased Medicare counseling from the state, you can call the Louisiana Senior Health Information Program (LaSHIP) at 1-800-259-5300. Fussell Group is not affiliated with LaSHIP.
What’s the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement?
A Medicare Advantage plan is another way to get your Medicare coverage, instead of Original Medicare. A Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy works alongside Original Medicare and helps pay some of the costs it doesn’t cover, like copayments, coinsurance and deductibles. You can’t have both at the same time. Your agent can walk you through how each option would work with your doctors, prescriptions and budget.
